News from Chair James Finlason - February Newsletter

February, a great month for rugby! We get closer to the business end of the season and we have the start of the Men's 6 nations Championship, which, as usual, you can watch at the club. This kicks off on Thursday 5th Feb with France vs Ireland which the club and kitchen will be open for.

A special mention goes out to Helen and the rest of Dele’s family to thank them for the fund set to donate to the club, in Dele's memory. As you'll have seen from tributes on our website and the Knock On News, Dele was a fantastic member of the club who very sadly passed away recently.

You may have seen, in an announcement last month, that we have ringfenced some funds to cover rental costs for the use of all weather pitches during these wetter weeks.

We understand that this weather has meant some cancellations, especially during midweek so we hope this will help to ensure that play still continues in a safe and enjoyable manner.

Thank you to all of you who added comments to the Better Brighton Fund page, where we have applied for grants to cover the cost of renovating the Old Tea Hut and former Air Raid Shelter for safe storage of kit and equipment. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a positive outcome and will update you if any further action is required.

Lastly, as promised on my last note, here is a link to tickets for the Hove Rugby Club Ball, to be held on 13th June 2026. Our Exec Committee has made the decision that the Club will subsidise tickets so they are as affordable as possible. We hope this means that we'll see a large number of you from across every section.
