It was a sunny bus ride to gates of Kent where Hove Vets were invited for a fixture against Dartfordians RFC

Clashing with six nations super Saturday we were short of a few players with a back line being made up predominantly of forwards we lined up against Dartford teams that seem to have a plethora of substitutes and not a grey hair amongst their youthful backline
As the game started we were very quickly down a couple of quick tries from our defensive line being eased through. However with strong leadership from our captains James Cockle and Dave Evans it all started to come back to us and we showed that with a few phases and quick ball in hand we could find space where our very own Danish Aziz exploiting the gaps to get some well deserved points in the board.
The story of the game remained where we defended more effectively than before and didn’t let our lack of game time together or need for larger lung capacity hold us back with Dartford managing find the spaces and the points on the board . Although it felt like our hard earned tries were very quickly chalked out a couple of quick in succession from the opposition but we held our heads high til the end . A final score of 8 tries to 4 to Dartford, a well deserved win and great hosts where we enjoyed their kind hospitality in the rare afternoon sunshine…with an enjoyable coach ride home.
