For their fifth competitive match of the season, Hove U12 girls made the short trip to Burgess Hill. Buoyed by their two match unbeaten run, and with some strong training behind them, confidence amongst the girls was high. Straight from the kick off, Hove put the pressure on their opponents with line speed and strong tackling, leading to Joslin scoring the opening try. Burgess Hill struck back, but some excellent communication between Amelie at hooker and Poppy P at scrum half meant a scrum win against the feed, and this put away Cordelia to score. Hove continued with some fine counter rucking and physical tackling, but Burgess Hill continued to push. A see-saw half saw Nia and Joslin (with her second) both score, and the half ended 20-20.

Hove were slow to come out of the blocks in the second half, and Burgess Hill ran in three quick tries. However, the maroon and blues were not defeated, and with some strong go ahead running, more powerful rucking and good movement from the scrum, tries from Joslin (her third hat trick in three games!), Aggie and Lara tied the game back up again. With 30 seconds left on the clock, Burgess Hill touched down for their 8th try, but a safe catch from the kick, followed by quick ball movement out wide, gave speedster Emma all the room she needed to outpace the defence and score with the last play of the game. Final score: Burgess Hill 40 - 40 Hove!
All of the players showed great improvements, demonstrating their most physical game yet! Cordelia was voted by Burgess Hill as ther player of the game, and the Hove girls voted for Emma and Lara as their MVPs. Next up; Hastings and Bexhill at home. UTH!
