The Women smash their first league match

Updated: Sep 22

A hugely competitive selection from a bumper recruitment for the women, saw their first side strut onto the pitch to face Aylesford. After much limbering up and many pre match lucozades, the first 15 stood lined up for the kick off.. fuelled with the excitement of a blitz attack, Hove hammered up the pitch leaving Aylesford fumbling and dishing up a tasty penalty.

With No.9 Bella making some chop-tastic tackles on some of Aylesford monster forwards, No.3 Bob destroying their pod attacks. AF maintain their rumbling attack, No.12 Gaby, sacrifices her knee for the good of the cause in a hip jangling tackle, taking her off the pitch for the duration of the game.

No.10 Laura leading the backs in a charge.. A big scrum ensues as AF then kick clear and turn up the volume to eventually pop the ball over Hove's line.

Allowing AF to get their hopes up, Hove now switch it up to the real rugby....Hot Wheels No.13 Mikaila, screams up the pitch on two blistering chases, leaving AF realing as she scoops up the ball with all the skill, stepping and wiles of a gazelle..

Ruck Master General No.7 Elisha ducking into every ruck and turning that ball back to Hove.

No.15 Sophie making her signature 'hit by a train' try saving tackle down the wing from a breakaway AF, left her pancake flat on the floor. An absolute superior pick and go from No.8 Ella, giving the team ground and forcing us up the pitch. Now, No.12 Sissy 'the boot' places some Helena Rowland worthy kicks strategically up the field, allowing No.13 Mikaila to score right under the posts.

12-5.

AF are puffing and Hove are just getting started, No.6 Wendy leading every blitz, the forwards are switching up their gears against the trucks of AF forwards. No.2 Izzy and No.1 Voicey obliterating AF defensive lines, forcing them to work harder and harder. Creeping close to Hove 5m line Now No.8 Sadie saw herself in an exit channel, wrapping her size 12's around the ball and sending it flying past the halfway she starts the train and Ussain Bolts it up the pitch, followed by the speed demon that is No.22 Amelie, AF 15 picks it up and luckily for her, heads across pitch.

The team join the party, turning the ball over, spinning it out to the backs where No.11 Alliyah hot foots it over the line, professionally assisted by the tackle machine that is No.15 Sophie.

17-5

With the tang of victory in sight, Hove mix it up, adding new players Holly, Codey and Kayley to the field. All making themselves known to the forwards of AF, who are now wishing they'd stayed in NC2... No. 3 Izzy making a wing break of her own, looking for a try, No. 6. Wendy, also fancying herself as a back and screams up the wing towards the try line. A breakdown sees the backs taking the lime light yet again as No.13 Mikaila launches her stepping superpower into un-catchable action, leaving multiple AF players eating the Rec dust of Hove.

24-5

Not to be outdone, the forwards demonstrate some huge power against the now flagging AF, keeping up the pressure, the teamwork and the set piece play. Some powerful scrums, unbreakable defence, wild turnovers, superior backs moves, ridiculous breaks, the speed, the focus and the dedication was palpable. Every player put their body on the line and hearts into that game. A well deserved win.
