Hove Hawks 36 - Canterbury 24

What a curtain raiser to the new season, Sussex Champions v Kent Champions, it’s hard to predict how the first game of the season will go but coaches from both sides were delighted, this is exactly what the boys needed and sets both teams up for the season ahead
Hove are playing a new structure and whilst at times we fell out of shape overall it was a great start to build on
10 tries in a tense but really entertaining match, saw Hawks come out on top 6 tries to 4.
Hawks scores came from Sid, Senan, Kieren, Dylan and Eddie x2
Griff and Eddie shared the conversions
Games like this come down to moments, and overall Hove came out on top and deserved the win, despite conceding the first score and going down 7-0, this was the only time the boys were behind in the match.
Discipline is key in rugby and 3 yellow cards for Hove in the last quarter put the team under pressure but the response was epic and the lads closed the game out
Today was a true team performance so every boy shares player of the match, a few shout outs to Dylan, Thomas and Darcy making their Hawks debuts 👏, Sid and Alex playing their first game in the front row 💪 and that tackle in the first half from Sam Downes 🔥
So next week is a training session before the Hawks start their Surrey adventure a week later (fixtures should be out tomorrow) and the Harriers have Pulborough as they build up to the start of the Sussex leagues
