The match was on the main pitch with supporters grateful for the grandstand with the rain coming down all game

In an end to end match Esher started the the more lively and were first to cross over after a series of pick and goes 5-0

It had a feel that it was going to be a tight match and if points were on offer it’s best to take them and when Esher got their next penalty in front of the posts they slotted it over. 8-0

The Hawks came roaring back and some great team play and physicality from the forwards saw Harry cross over 8-7 and HT

Esher continued with the tactical kicking and Hove started playing a more territorial game also and a lovely kick through saw Senan win the race to put the Hawks up for the first time 8-14

Hawks had the momentum but like all good teams Esher came back hard and crossed the line and converted to make it a one point game going into the final 15 minutes. 15-14

Both teams defence was amazing but you could feel the Hawks were edging the territorial head to head thanks to Eddie and Griffs kicking and it found them down in Esher’s 5 yard line, with line outs challenging for both teams a clever throw from Dylan to Thomas at the front who poped it back to Dylan to crash over, Hawks back in front 15-19

Both teams had chances in the last 5 minutes but both defences held firm, this was a statement win for the Hawks away from home against a top top side
