Hove Blues produced a powerful and composed performance to overcome Haywards Heath
42–21 in a hard-fought contest played in difficult conditions and in front of a loud, partisan
away crowd.

From the outset, the heavy, slippery pitch made handling a real challenge, forcing both sides to adjust their games. Hove, however, showed impressive patience and control. The breakthrough came from a source any forward pack would be proud of, as Gabriel peeled off
the back of a well-organised rolling maul to crash over for the opening try, setting the tone physically.
The Blues backs soon began to find their rhythm despite the conditions. George finished off
a slick, well-worked backs move, showing excellent hands and timing across the line to
stretch the defence.
Close-range pressure eventually told again when Jude S sniped cleverly from the base of the ruck, spotting a gap and darting over from short range to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Into the second half and Haywards Heath fed off the conditions and the constant noise from the touchlines, putting early pressure on the Blues and making every carry and ruck fiercely contested.
James F then took centre stage, crossing twice: the first after strong support play, and the second a fine solo effort, beating multiple defenders with pace and determination to secure his double.
Arthur rounded off the Blues’ try scoring with another outstanding backs move, finishing clinically out wide after quick recycling and sharp passing pulled the Heath defence apart.
Despite spirited resistance from Haywards Heath and their vocal supporters, Hove Blues
managed the game well, combining forward dominance with attacking intent out wide to secure a deserved 42–21 victory in testing circumstances.
A gritty, complete performance from the Blues, marked by resilience, teamwork and
moments of real quality when it mattered most.
